Read the comparisonAs of October 22, 2026, Linq is closing iMessage accounts used for sales, with a final cutoff of October 23, 2026, per its notice to customers as reported. Linq itself is not shutting down; it now builds for AI agents.
Read the comparisonOwning the line means running the devices. Here is what that takes, in plain terms.
iMessage Line: a Mac on macOS 11 or later (your own, or one you rent in the cloud; the iPhone, number and Apple ID stay yours) plus an iPhone with an active carrier plan, both signed into the same Apple ID.
SMS Line: an Android phone on Android 9 or later, with a SIM on an active SMS plan.
WhatsApp: connects by QR code, from Linked Devices on the phone that runs WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business.
Devices stay powered, online and awake. Keep the Mac, and an Android SMS phone, plugged in on stable Wi-Fi. If a device drops offline, delivery pauses, and WhatSnap queues messages for up to 24 hours; after that, they are marked failed.
A fresh Line warms up over 14 days. A number with history and inbound traffic may not need a formal warm-up, but our Acceptable Use Policy's first-14-day pacing still applies unless we confirm otherwise in writing.
Apple watches how many brand-new conversations each Apple ID starts. Providers typically keep it near 50 a day per line: our Acceptable Use Policy allows up to 50 new recipients a day per Apple ID in a new Line's first 14 days, and Sendblue's and Linq's docs use the same figure. Apple's rules are the same for every provider; the difference is who owns the line.
Apple and your carrier set their own rules and can act on any line, so we do not promise immunity. WhatSnap is built for leads who expect to hear from you, not for cold outreach at scale.
Devices and carrier plans are on you: hardware you buy once (or a Mac you rent in the cloud), a monthly carrier plan you pay directly, and power and internet to keep the devices online.
Not through its built-in provider. LeadConnector, GHL's built-in telephony provider, does not send iMessage, so you connect a provider for it. With WhatSnap set as the telephony provider, GHL's native SMS actions route through your connected devices, and an iMessage Line sends from your own number.
On WhatSnap BYOP, yes. An iMessage Line needs a Mac on macOS 11 or later (your own, or one you rent in the cloud) plus an iPhone with an active carrier plan, both on the same Apple ID. An SMS Line runs on an Android 9+ phone with a SIM. Hosted providers such as Sendblue, Blooio and Linq run the hardware for you.
Who holds the line. On BYOP, the number, SIM, Apple ID and carrier plan are yours: if you leave WhatSnap, you lose the GHL connection and keep the number. On a hosted line, the provider runs the device and the number. Per their terms, Sendblue lets you port out for $60 a line while subscribed and returns the number to the carrier after cancellation, and Blooio says cancelling may release the number. The trade-off: on BYOP, you run the devices. If you would rather not, WhatSnap's managed plans run them for you, from $77/mo per line (pricing).
On WhatSnap BYOP, $29 a month per GHL Subaccount with 1 Line included, plus $15 a month per extra Line in the same Subaccount: 5 Lines cost $89, 10 Lines $164. That is software only; your devices and carrier plans are extra. Per their pricing pages as of October 22, 2026, Sendblue's AI Agent plan is $100 per line a month and inbound-first; Blooio lists $39 a month on a shared number, $98 for a reply-only dedicated number and $289 per Commercial Dedicated line; Linq has not published a Linq Blue price. Hosted prices include the provider's hardware.
Yes, once a provider is connected. With WhatSnap as the telephony provider, GHL's native Send SMS actions use your devices automatically, and Wait for Reply steps and GHL's AI booking bots keep working. On an iMessage Line, messages go out from your own number, with SMS fallback for non-Apple users.
Open a free demo account and start testing right now, with one limited Line and no credit card. When you are ready, move to BYOP and send from your own number in GHL. On an iMessage Line, your rep can reply from the iPhone, and the conversation keeps syncing to GHL. Add Lines as the team grows: $29 a month per GHL Subaccount with 1 Line included, $15 a month for each extra Line in the same Subaccount. Devices and carrier plans not included.
